Abstract:
The load carrying capacity of a continuously variable transmission is increased
without increasing the diameter of its pulley and ring. The continuously variable
transmission has a first shaft (12) rotatably supported by a housing (10), a second
shaft (36) rotatably supported by the housing (10), a V-pulley (16) having a variable
groove width and supported by the first shaft (12), a ring (30) in contact with
the V-pulley (16) at both surfaces of the ring and supported at the outer circumference
of the ring, and a mechanism ((40) etc.) for rotatably supporting a guide roller
that supports the outer circumference of the ring (30) and moving the ring (30)
around the second shaft (36). Units each having the first shaft (12), the V-pulley
(16), and the ring (30) are arranged around the second shaft (36).
