Abstract:
A continuously variable transmission provided with a primary pulley, a secondary pulley, a metal belt stretched between the primary pulley and the secondary pulley, and a controller. The metal belt is provided with elements and rings, the elements have an accommodation part that opens in the radial direction of the metal belt, and the rings are received by the accommodation parts. When the controller detects the generation of end play of greater than a prescribed length in the metal belt or detects that the continuously variable transmission is in an operating condition in which the individual end play between adjacent elements is concentrating, the controller executes a predetermined element falling countermeasure control.
