Abstract:
Provided is a connecting rod, the rod section of which has been effectively strengthened, and which can be manufactured without causing cost increases. The connecting rod is configured so that: in cross-section, the rod section 4 has a pair or ribs 21, 21 and a web 22, the two ends of which connect to the pair of ribs 21, 21 roughly at the center of the height direction thereof; in cross-section, the ribs 21 are obtained from a rib root section 23 located at the center of the height direction and a pair of rib tips 24, 24 located at the two ends of the height direction; and the hardness of the rib tips 24 is at least 40 HV higher than the web 22, and the hardness of the rib root section 23 is at least 30 HV higher than the web 22.
