Abstract:
Provided are the following: a compression coiled spring which exhibits high durability and high settling resistance, and which can prevent fretting fatigue; and a method for producing same. This compression coiled spring is obtained using a steel wire material which contains, in terms of wt%, 0.5-0.7% of C, 1.2-3.0% of Si, 0.3-1.2% of Mn, 0.5-1.9% of Cr and 0.05-0.5% of V, and contains one or more of 1.5% or less of Ni, 1.5% or less of Mo and 0.5% or less of W as optional components, with the remainder comprising iron and unavoidable impurities. An arbitrary transverse cross section of the steel wire material has an internal hardness of 570-700 HV, has a nitride layer at a surface part, and has a carbon-enriched layer in which the concentration of carbon is greater than the average concentration of carbon contained in the steel wire material, immediately below the nitride layer. The total thickness of a surface treated layer obtained by combining the nitride layer and the carbon-enriched layer is 0.02-0.15 mm. The thickness of the nitride layer is 0.01-0.05 mm. The nitride layer has a portion having a hardness of 780 HV or more.
