Abstract:
In order to provide a combined oil control ring that is for an automobile engine and that makes it possible to maintain excellent oil control function without adhesion occurring between a spacer expander and side rails even when an engine is operated for a long period of time, the ridge sections and the valley sections of a spacer expander in a combined oil control ring comprising a vertical pair of upper and lower side rails and a spacer expander having ridge sections and valley sections formed thereon in an axial wave shape are configured from edge sections that press the inner circumferential surfaces of the side rails, protrusions that support the side rails, and intermediate sections between the edge sections and the protrusions. The intermediate sections facing the side rails comprise at least one groove section. The groove sections extend in approximately the circumferential direction and have a recessed shape in the radial direction.
