Abstract:

A coating fluid capable of forming, on the surface of a substrate, a nonphotochromic hard coating having a high refractive index, excellent resistances to boiling water, weather, marring and wear, and excellent dyeability, which comprises a matrix-forming component and particles having a mean particle diameter of 1 to 100 nm and being made of a composite oxide comprising an iron oxide component, a titanium oxide component, and if necessary a silica component at a specific ratio; and substrates covered with hard coating formed by applying the coating fluid to substrates and drying the resulting substrates.
