Abstract:
A motor (20) includes a stator (21) fixed to a housing (12), and a rotor (23) provided in such a way as to be capable of rotating relative to the stator (21), and is capable of outputting torque by being supplied with electric power. A speed reducer (30) is capable of decelerating and outputting the torque of the motor (20). A rotary translation unit (2) includes a rotating unit (40) which rotates relative to the housing (12) by means of the torque from the speed reducer (30), and a translating unit (50) which moves relative to the housing (12) in an axial direction. A clutch (70) permits the transmission of torque when in an engaged state, and interrupts the transmission of torque when in a disengaged state. A state changing unit (80) is capable of accepting an axial direction force from the translating unit (50) to change the state of the clutch (70). A cogging torque generated between the rotor (23) and the stator (21) is set to a magnitude that allows the rotor (23) to remain stationary in an arbitrarily defined rotational position relative to the stator (21).
