Abstract:
[Problem] Provided are a cleaving system and a cleaving processing method which can cleave smoothly, and in an assured manner, an edge of a sheet glass to be cleaved in a cleaving process. [Solution] A cleaving system 10a operates such that: after a cleaving cutter wheel forms an edge cut line at an edge of a sheet glass, a first lifting mechanism vertically lifts the cleaving cutter wheel; after the lifting of the cleaving cutter wheel, a rotation mechanism causes the cleaving cutter wheel and first and second press members to rotate axially such that the first press member is positioned at the edge of the sheet glass extending at the outer side of the outer shape cutting line; upon positioning of the first press member at the edge of the sheet glass, a third lifting mechanism vertically lowers the second press member so that the second press member and first and second support members sandwich a body portion and the edge of the sheet glass; upon the sandwiching of the body portion and the edge by the second press member and the first and second support members, a fourth lifting mechanism vertically lowers the second support member; the second lifting mechanism vertically lowers the first press member while the body portion is kept sandwiched between the second press member and the first support member; and thereby, the edge of the sheet glass extending at the outer side of the outer shape cutting line is pressed downward, and the edge is cleaved.
