Abstract:

Provided is a charging member which has a low electrical resistance, shows little variation and little environmental dependence and, even in prolonged use, shows little conduction deterioration and no image failure such as transverse streaks induced by charging. The charging member comprises a highly conductive support and an elastic layer consisting of one or more layers, said elastic layer being located on said support, wherein said elastic layer is formed of a semiconductive vulcanized rubber comprising a binder polymer, which contains a polymer having a butadiene skeleton being terminal-modified at the molecular terminal with a specific atomic group, and carbon black being dispersed, as conductive particles, in said binder polymer.
