A chain-driven differential gear apparatus of the present invention comprises: a differential gear assembly including left and right differential side gears facing each other and differential pinion gears disposed on the upper and lower portions of the left and right differential side gears to face each other and engaged with the left and right differential side gears; a sprocket mounted on a left or right axle so as to be spaced apart from the differential gear assembly, the left axle extending from the left differential side gear of the differential gear assembly to the left, and the right axle extending from the right side gear of the differential gear assembly to the right; and a chain wound around the sprocket to transmit a driving force from a power source to the sprocket to rotate the sprocket. According to the present invention, it is possible to make the differential gear apparatus compact and light, enhance driving force transmission efficiency, and reduce manufacturing cost, which enables application of the differential gear apparatus to small transportation/moving vehicles, thereby enhancing safety of the small transportation/moving vehicles.
