Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a ceramic spherical body having high hydrophilicity and reduced wear during pulverization. The present invention is a ceramic spherical body which contains zirconia as a main component, and has a monoclinic crystal percentage of at most 3.0 vol%, a tetragonal crystal percentage of 80 vol% to 95 vol%, a surface roughness Sa of 0.005 μm to 0.015 μm, and a ratio (A/B) of 0.07 to 0.30, where (A) is the peak maximum value at 3,200-3,400 cm-1 derived from OH groups on the surface of the ceramic spherical body, and (B) is the sum of peak maximum values at 450-500 cm−1, 550-600 cm-1, and 750-850 cm−1 derived from Zr-O bonds.
