Abstract:

The present invention relates to a cathode active material and a lithium secondary battery comprising same and, more specifically, the present invention relates to a cathode active material and a lithium secondary battery comprising same, the material comprising a lithium-manganese-based oxide with excess lithium, wherein the lithium and the manganese in the lithium-manganese-based oxide prevent the deterioration of electrochemical properties of a lithium secondary battery, including rate characteristics and the like, and, particularly, the elution of a transition metal from the lithium-manganese-based oxide is inhibited or reduced so that lifespan deterioration of a lithium secondary battery can be prevented.
