Abstract:
A method for producing a catalyst that is used in a vapor-phase contact ammoxidation reaction, wherein: the catalyst is such that a metal oxide containing at least Mo and Sb is carried on a silica support; the method includes a sintering step in which a catalyst precursor is sintered at 500-800°C inclusive to obtain a catalyst sintered body having a catalyst surface body, and a surface treatment step in which the catalyst sintered body is fluidized inside a fluidizing device to thereby remove the catalyst sintered body and obtain a catalyst; a vertical-direction cross-section of the fluidizing device has a portion that gradually declines downward; and, in the surface treatment step, treatment is carried out such that the value of U calculated according to formula (1) pertaining to the catalyst is within the range of 89-118. Formula (1): U = (b + 2.94 − a)/2.94 × 100 (In formula (1), a represents the UV absorption intensity at 250 nm, and b represents the UV absorption intensity at 410 nm.)
