Abstract:
Provided is a carbon black that is highly dispersible and is applied to a fuel cell catalyst. The carbon black is characterized by having a DBP absorption of at least 200 ml/100 g, a ratio of DBP absorption (ml/100 g) to specific surface area (m2/g) of not more than 0.60, a sulfur content of not more than 50 mass ppm, and a bulk density of not more than 0.050 g/cm3. The fuel cell catalyst is obtained by supporting platinum particles and/or platinum alloy particles on the carbon black.
