Abstract:
Provided is a cam clutch which can switch the operation mode with a simple structure, which is high in responsiveness, which can ensure an intended torque capacity, which suppresses an increase in complexity of a structure even when an outer ring is used as a rotary body, and which can also achieve a reduction in the axial-direction size. The present invention comprises an operation mode switching mechanism (140) that switches among any two or more of a free state for permitting relative rotary motions in both directions, a one-way clutch state for permitting the relative rotary motion in any one of the forward and backward directions, and a locked state for inhibiting the relative rotary motions in the both directions. The operation mode switching mechanism (140) comprises a cam attitude changing portion (141) that is movable in the axial direction independently of the rotary motions of an inner ring (110) and an outer ring (120). Each of a plurality of cams (131) comprises an engaging portion (136) provided so as to protrude from a side surface toward the cam attitude changing portion (141) side.
