Abstract:
A power unit for a saddle-type vehicle in which a gas/liquid separation chamber leading into a reduction gear chamber is formed in a portion of a transmission case that corresponds to the reduction gear chamber, wherein a bearing and an annular seal member disposed nearer to the reduction gear chamber than is the bearing are interposed between a rear-wheel axle and a transmission case (61) so as to form an annular space (102) between the seal member and the bearing, the gas/liquid separation chamber (110) and the annular space (102) communicate via a first communication channel (118), and the annular space (102) communicate with the exterior of the transmission case (61) via a second communication channel (119). This makes it possible to simplify the structure while also making it possible for oil-containing gas produced in the reduction gear chamber to be separated into a gas and a liquid and expelled out of the vehicle, and for mud and water from outside the vehicle to be prevented from entering the reduction gear chamber.
