Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to achieve reduction in size, weight, and power consumption of a braking apparatus by a lining structure and a rotor surface shape which provide a high friction coefficient between a brake lining and a rotor and by a method for manufacturing the lining. To this end, this braking apparatus includes a rotational body which rotates about a rotating shaft; a stator core which is disposed inside the rotational body and includes a coil; a movable core which is attracted to and brought into contact with the stator core by the coil being excited and which is repelled by a spring provided on the stator core; and the brake lining which is slidable on a recessed and projected portion of the rotational body relative to each other and has fibers arranged in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of sliding, the brake lining being bound with a compound material and provided on the movable core. Furthermore, the lining is manufactured in a manner such that the fibers are mixed with a friction material, while being twisted, into a strand mixed with the friction material; a plurality of such strands are prepared and further twisted into a strand of a predetermined diameter, which is finally heated and pressurized.
