Abstract:
Provided is a boot for constant velocity universal joint, the boot being capable of flexibly deforming to follow even a large operating angle, capable of effectively dispersing interference pressure between crests, interference pressure between the troughs and a shaft, and stress concentration to the troughs to uniformize such pressure and stress, having improved anti-wear properties and anti-fatigue properties, and having high durability. Also provided is a constant velocity universal joint capable of using the boot.
A bellows section (15) of a boot is provided with three or more crests (7), and also with three or more troughs (6) which are alternately arranged, together with the crests (7), in the axis direction. In a cross-section of the boot taken in the longitudinal direction thereof, the outer diameter section of each of the crests (7) is formed in a rounded shape. The curvature radius of the outer diameter sections of one or two crests (7) located at the center portion between a large-diameter section (13) and a small-diameter section (14) is set to be greater than the curvature radius of the outer diameter sections of the remaining crests (7).
