Abstract:
A boot for a constant velocity joint, where the boot can maintain sealing capability between itself and a joint even if a phase difference occurs between them, effectively preventing leakage of grease from a gap between them. The boot has a large diameter-side installation portion that is installed on an outer ring of a constant velocity joint, and the outer ring has circumferential recess portions on its outer peripheral surface. In the large diameter-side installation portion are integrally formed a tubular portion fitted on the outer periphery side of the outer ring, circumferential ridge portions provided on the inner peripheral surface of the tubular portion so as to correspond to the recess portions, and an axial end face portion opposite an fore end face of the outer ring. End face seal portions are provided at portions opposite fore end faces of recess portions of the axial end face portion of the large diameter-side installation portion. The end face seal portions are in a close contact with the fore end faces of the recess portions, causing contact pressure to occur to produce sealing effect between the end face seal portions and the fore end faces of the recess portion.
