A bite-in type pipe joint in which a ferrule is integrally formed with a joining member having a male screw thread formed on it and in which damage to the outer surface of the ferrule is prevented to avoid a reduction in airtightness. Also, a refrigeration apparatus and a water heating device that use such a bite-in type joint are provided. The bite-in type pipe joint has a joining member (1) having a female screw thread (11) and a joining member (2) having a male screw thread (21). A ferrule (3) is formed integrally with the joining member (2). The ferrule (3) is separated from the joining member (2) and bites into a pipe (4) before both joining members (1, 2) are tightened together. Because a circular tube-like cover (22) for covering the annular ferrule (3) is formed on the joining member (2), the forward end (3a) and the tapered surface (31) of the ferrule (3) are prevented from being damaged while the joining member (2) is handled.
