Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] A bearing device for a wheel, which is light-weighted and compact and in which movement of an inner ring is suppressed, the inner ring being pressed into a hub ring prior to being assembled with a constant velocity universal joint. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An annular projection (12) is formed on the outer periphery of the end section on the inboard side of an small diameter step section (2b), and an annular recess (13) corresponding to the projection (12) and having a step slightly greater than the projection (12) is formed on the inner periphery of the end section on the inboard side of an inner ring (3). The recess (13) is engaged with the projection (12) to cause the end surface on the outboard side of the inner ring (3) to be in contact with a shoulder section (2d) of a hub ring (2), and as a result, the inner ring (3) is fixedly fitted on the small diameter step section (2b) with the end surface on the inboard side of the inner ring (3) projecting from the end surface of the small diameter step section (2b). As a consequence, even if the inner ring (3) moves during transportation or prior to being assembled with the constant velocity universal joint in an assembly line in an automobile manufacturer, the inner ring (3) can be stopped at the projection (12) of the hub (2). This prevents a seal (9) on the inboard side from falling out of a sliding surface or falling into a clearance between an inner rolling surface (3a) and rolling bodies (6).
