Title:
BALL JOINT SEAL STRUCTURE AND FERRULE RING MOUNTING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/162678
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This ball joint seal structure has a ferrule ring interposed between the small-diameter opening of a dust cover and a knuckle. The ball joint connects the knuckle to a stud, and a ball head on the end of the stud is housed in a socket so as to be rockable and rotatable. A dust cover has a large-diameter opening surrounding the socket that houses the ball head, and the small-diameter opening surrounding the stud, the large-diameter opening and the small-diameter opening being connected by a membrane. The ferrule ring is provided with an annular portion that suppresses entrance of dust through a notch that occurs when, for example, a pinch bolt knuckle is employed, and has, at the outer peripheral end, an inclined portion that is inclined toward the dust cover side.
