An automatic transmission (11) is provided with: a starting device (17) having a clutch mechanism section (33); a shift mechanism (18) having an input shaft (25) extended into the starting device (17); and an oil pump housing (15) mounted between the starting device (17) and the shift mechanism (18).  An oil pump (19) is contained in the oil pump housing (15).  Communication holes (20a, 21a) through which the input shaft (25) penetrates are formed in an oil pump cover (20) and an oil pump body (21), respectively, which constitute the oil pump housing (15).  A support member (26) for rotatably supporting the input shaft (25) is mounted in the communication hole (20a) in the oil pump cover (20).  The configuration enables the size of the oil pump (19) to be reduced to contribute to improvement in fuel consumption of a vehicle and enables the input shaft (25) of the shift mechanism (18) to be supported optimally.
