Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for removing radionuclides, the apparatus and the method enabling CO3 2-, which is formed by the ureolysis of microorganisms, to bind with radionuclides such as Sr2+ of a culture solution and precipitate and remove same as a stable mineral such as SrCO3, and enabling an increase in the precipitation efficiency of minerals such as SrCO3 and efficient removal of precipitated minerals, and the apparatus for removing radionuclides, according to the present invention, may comprise: a medium mixture supply part for storing and supplying a medium mixture comprising a medium, a magnesium (Mg)-containing material and a calcium (Ca)-containing material; a radionuclide supply part for supplying a radionuclide solution containing strontium ions (Sr2+); a mineral generation part, which mixes the medium mixture supplied from the medium mixture supply part, and the radionuclide solution supplied from the radionuclide supply part, injects ureolytic microorganisms to prepare a microorganism culture solution, and allows CO3 2- formed by the ureolysis of the ureolytic microorganisms to bind with the strontium ions (Sr2+) of the microorganism culture solution so that a SrCO3 or SrCaCO3 mineral is precipitated; and a culture solution discharge part for discharging the microorganism culture solution from the mineral generation part to the outside and filtering out the precipitated mineral.
