Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for adjusting a valve packing tightening force. The apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention is for adjusting a valve packing tightening force of a valve assembly comprising: a valve body having formed therein a duct connecting an inlet port and a discharge port; a valve stem for selectively opening and closing the duct by reciprocating inside the valve body; a valve actuator for driving the valve stem back and forth; a valve packing for maintaining a seal between the valve stem and the valve body; and a gland for pressing the valve packing in the axial direction of the valve stem. The apparatus comprises: a tightening force measurement part for measuring the respective packing tightening force of a plurality of gland studs provided in the gland, while the valve stem is being driven back and forth; a tightening force calculation part for calculating respective torque values and rotations for rotating a plurality of gland nuts respectively coupled to the plurality of gland studs in order to retain the sealed state of the valve packing, by comparing the packing tightening force measured by the tightening force measurement part and a predetermined reference value; and tightening force adjustment parts respectively coupled to the plurality of gland nuts and adjusting the respective packing tightening force of the plurality of gland studs by rotating the plurality of gland nuts in accordance with the torque values and the rotations calculated by the tightening force calculation part.
