Abstract:
The present invention provides an antioxidant for preventing the oxidation of trivalent chromium ions to divalent chromium ions, wherein, as for trivalent chromium plating, in order to ameliorate environments where methods of preventing the oxidation of trivalent chromium ions into divalent chromium ions were not eco-friendly and had to employ the hazard elements bromine and fluorine to thereby configure an eco-friendly trivalent chromium plating solution that can be disposed of by wastewater treatment, the antioxidant is composed of a cyano-carboxy group composite free from bromine, fluorine, and sulfur components. Therefore, a sulfur component, of which excessive addition occurred whenever cyanide was added, due to conventionally used sulfur-containing thiocyanate, need not be removed, leading to economic advantages, and the cyano-carboxy group composite can be used in a trivalent chromium plating solution of a chloride bath as well as a sulfate both, leading to eco-friendly advantages. In addition, a Cr+S form of plating becomes possible in trivalent chromium plating in the chloride bath, and trivalent chromium plating for higher gloss becomes possible as cyanide is added even in the chloride bath.
