Abstract:
[Problem] To produce ammonia electrochemically. [Solution] This ammonia production method is for producing ammonia from nitrogen molecules by using a production apparatus that carries out electrolysis, the method configured so that electrons are supplied from a power source, protons from a proton source, and nitrogen molecules from a means for supplying nitrogen gas, in the presence of a solid catalyst, a reaction site formation material, and a complex at the cathode. Materials that are used as the complex, the solid catalyst, and the reaction site formation material are, for example, a molybdenum complex represented by formula (A1-1) for the complex, a platinum catalyst for the solid catalyst, and a rare earth metal/carbon combination body for the reaction site formation material.
