Abstract:
The present invention relates to an air foil journal bearing. This comprises: a bearing housing which provides an accommodation space having a certain inner diameter, has a covering groove formed in the outer circumference thereof, and has a side passage which opens the accommodation space toward the covering groove; a bump foil having an elastic body which is built-in the accommodation space of the bearing housing, is in line-contact with the inner circumference of the accommodation space, and can be elastically deformed, and a first extension tab which is integrally formed with one end portion of the elastic body and is accommodated in the covering groove via the side passage; a top foil comprising a foil body which is accommodated inside the bump foil and is in surface-contact with the bump foil, and a second extension tab which is integrally formed with one end portion of the foil body, is accommodated in the covering groove via the side passage, and overlaps the first extension tab; and a fixing portion which fixes the overlapping first extension tab and the second extension tab in the covering groove. According to the air foil journal bearing of the present invention formed as above, abrasion does not occur at the contact portion between the bump foil and the bearing housing, and thus, there is no need to maintain and repair the bearing housing even when the air foil journal bearing is used for a long period of time and the best condition can be always maintained. Also, coupling of the bump foil and the top foil to the bearing housing is implemented in a prefabricated manner, and thus, regular or irregular replacement of the bump foil and the top foil is possible and it is advantageous for maintaining and repairing.
