Abstract:
An air cylinder device having a cylinder body and a piston rod which is moved in the forward and backward directions by the supply and discharge of pressurized air into and from the cylinder body, wherein the air cylinder device is provided with a fall prevention mechanism having: a stationary member which does not move relative to the cylinder body; brake members supported by the stationary member so that the brake members can come into contact with and separate from the piston rod; pressing members which lock the piston rod to the stationary member by pressing the brake members against the piston rod; and an unlocking air mechanism which, against the pressing force of the pressing members, holds the brake members at positions at which the brake members are not in contact with the piston rod, the unlocking air mechanism being operated by a pressurized air source which is shared with the air cylinder device.
