Description:
ABSORBING MOUTH AND TOOTH BRUSH

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an absorbing mouth and tooth brush used in the oral care of elderly patients with dysphagia, paralyzed patients and especially ventilator- dependent patients in intensive care units.

In particular, the present invention relates to an absorbing mouth and tooth brush that enables the dental plaques to be cleaned by means of a brush and the oral mucosa to be vacuumed by means of a sponge.

State of the Art

Oral care should be carried out by cleaning dental plaques and oral mucosa in elderly patients with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), paralyzed patients and ventilator- dependent patients in intensive care units.

Oral care kits with aspiration are widely used for oral care in the state of the art. Oral care applied with said oral care kits is carried out by dipping an aspirated sponge brush into the solution and wiping the inside of the mouth. However, since the sponge is too soft due to its structure, it does not have the feature of cleaning the palate surfaces and the inside of the cheeks in detail. In addition, it cannot grasp the endotracheal area and is insufficient to clean dental plaque. Thus, it is not possible to clean the inside of the mouth completely because the sponge is not compatible with the anatomical structure of the mouth. Therefore, a need for a brush that provides good cleaning of dental plaques and oral mucosa has arisen in the state of the art.

The document US2011151404 can be cited as an example of the state of the art in the literature research. Said document relates to the vacuum mouth brush. Said brush basically consists of a pipe connected to a vacuum device and a bristle toothbrush that provides cleaning of the teeth at the end of the pipe. The mouth water is vacuumed by means of the pipe and the teeth are cleaned with a bristle toothbrush. It is possible to clean only the teeth with the bristle brush used in the present invention but the palate surfaces and the inside of the cheeks cannot be cleaned in detail.

As a result of the aforementioned issues and the limited supply of available solutions, it became necessary to carry out an improvement in the relevant technical field.

Aim of the Invention

The present invention relates to an absorbing mouth and tooth brush which eliminates the abovementioned disadvantages and brings new advantages to the relevant technical field.

The aim of the present invention is to obtain an absorbing mouth and tooth brush that enables the dental plaques to be cleaned by means of a brush and the oral mucosa to be vacuumed by means of a sponge.

The aim of the invention is to provide effective cleaning of the inside of the mouth, dental plaques, palate and cheeks.

Another aim of the invention is to reduce the formation of microorganisms by cleaning dental plaques by means of brush bristles configured at the pipe end.

Another aim of the invention is to provide cleaning of the oral mucosa by means of the side sponge with zigzag-shaped pointed ends, which are structured around the brush bristles.

Another aim of the invention is to obtain an absorbing mouth and toothbrush, which is compatible with the endotracheal area and provides cleaning of the endotracheal tube, by means of the upper sponge, which is configured on the upper surface of the brush. in order to fulfill all the purposes stated above and which may arise from the detailed explanation, the invention, the present invention is an absorbing mouth and tooth brush that is used in the oral care of elderly patients with dysphagia, paralyzed patients and especially ventilator-dependent patients in intensive care units, includes a pipe with lumen structure suitable for connecting to a vacuum device, a brush body located at the end of the pipe and having brush bristles on the lower surface that enables the cleaning of dental plaques, and a hole extending therethrough.

- characterized by comprising a zigzag-shaped side sponge with pointed ends located on the side surface of the brush body and which provides cleaning of the inside of the mouth, palate and cheeks.

The structural and characteristic features of the present invention will be understood clearly by the following drawings and the detailed description made with reference to these drawings. Therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.

In this detailed description, the preferred alternatives of the inventive absorbing mouth and tooth brush are described only for clarifying the subject matter such that no limiting effect is created.

The general view of the inventive absorbing mouth and toothbrush is given in figure 1. Accordingly, the absorbing mouth and tooth brush basically comprises of the following; a pipe (10) of lumen structure suitable for connection to a vacuum device, a brush body (20) located at the end of the pipe (10) and having bristles (21) on its lower surface, which enables the cleaning of dental plaques, a zigzag-shaped side sponge (30) with pointed ends located on the side surface of the brush body (20), an "S" shaped upper sponge (40) structured in harmony with the endotracheal area on the upper surface of the brush body (20).

There is a hole (11) on the lumenous structure pipe (10), which enables the inventive absorbing mouth and tooth brush to be connected to a vacuum device and vacuumed the intraoral mucosa to be withdrawn, by closing it during vacuum extraction.

A brush body (20) with bristles (21) is connected to the end of the pipe (10), on the bottom surface of which provides cleaning of dental plaques. At the same time, as seen in figure 2, a hole (22) extends through the brush body (20) from inside the brush body (20). Said hole (22) ensures that the oral mucosa is drawn and transmitted to the pipe (10).

In order to clean the inside of the mouth, palate and cheeks as well as dental plaques in oral care, a side sponge (30) with pointed ends in the form of zigzag is printed on the side surface of the brush body (20). In addition, an "S" shaped upper sponge (40) is connected to the upper surface of the brush body (20) for endotrecal tube cleaning, as seen in Figure 3, which is structured in harmony with the endotracheal area. The use of the inventive absorbing mouth and toothbrush is as follows;

The absorbing mouth and tooth brush are connected to a vacuum device by means of the pipe (10) in the pipe structure. Cleaning of dental plaques is performed by means of the brush bristles (21), the inside of the mouth, palate and cheeks are cleaned by means of the side sponge (30) with pointed ends in the form of zigzag and at the same time, the endotrecal tube is cleaned by means of the "S" shaped upper sponge (40), which is compatible with the endotracheal area, in the meantime, the oral mucosa is vacuumed from the hole (22) extending along the brush body (20) by closing the hole (11) on the pipe (10).
