Abstract:
Disclosed is an abandoned mine goaf-based method for storing CO2 in partitioned sections. In the method, during sealing of a goaf, first various sections are projected onto to the ground surface and demarcated. Different drill holes are constructed in different respective sections and serve different purposes. After gas in the fracture zone and the curved sinking zone is extracted, the caving zone and the fracture zone are used as the primary locations for storing CO2. The sealing process includes using grouting to reinforce leftover barrier pillars, closing off the fracture zone, and filling the curved sinking zone. Alkaline fly ash slurry is used as a CO2 adsorption material. By injecting the alkaline fly ash slurry into the fracture zone and the caving zone, not only is the CO2 injected into the goaf able to be adsorbed and solidified, thus allowing for storage thereof within the fracture zone and the caving zone, but mineralization reactions cause the alkaline fly ash to solidify and provide for a higher degree of cementation, thus cementing and sealing the cracks of the fracture zone and the caving zone and enhancing the stability thereof. In this way, the fracture zone and the caving zone are not prone to later deformation, collapse, or other such events and long-term storage of CO2 gas may be achieved.
