Abstract:
PURPOSE: A terminal executing speech synthesis according to a pronunciation description language is provided to synthesize a speech in which intonation is given to a designated word. CONSTITUTION: A pronunciation character string based on a predetermined pronunciation description language is introduced to carry out speech synthesis when a text is converted into a speech. A terminal executing speech synthesis includes a speech synthesizing unit that automatically interpreting a pronunciation character string based on the pronunciation description language that defines intonation given to a designated word to synthesize a speech defined by the pronunciation character string. A transmitting side operates the terminal to produce an electronic mail including the pronunciation character string and transmits the electronic mail. The terminal of a receiving side automatically detects and interprets the pronunciation character string included in the electronic mail to execute speech synthesis.
