To provide a low-cost and simple volume reduction apparatus for small-scaled crushing, easily crushing used foamed polystyrene.
The volume reduction apparatus has a hopper 4 for receiving charged foamed polystyrene 5 at an upper part. A rotatable shaft body 12 is disposed below the hopper 4, a crushing member 13 fixed to an outer periphery of the shaft body 12 rotatingly crushes the charged foamed polystyrene. A fixed teeth member 14 with teeth 14a formed on a disc-like member is disposed at the end of a support body 11. A rotary teeth member 17 with teeth 17a formed on a disc-like member and fixed to an end of the shaft body 12 is disposed facing the fixed teeth member 14. The foamed polystyrene 5 is crushed between the fixed teeth member 14 and the rotary teeth member 17.
