Abstract:
PURPOSE:To form a circulating flow line in an impeller and improve output torque of a turbine in a variable speed fluid coupling used in a nuclear power plant or the like, by providing auxiliary turbines in corings provided in the turbine impeller. CONSTITUTION:Working oil passes through a feed pipe 6 and oil line 5, and is fed to a pump vane flow line 7 in an impeller 4. If the pump impeller 4 is rotated, a specified amount of oil is filled in a turbine blade 12 in accordance with the radial position of a rake pipe 23, then power from an input shaft 1 is transmitted to an output shaft 9 through the both impellers 4, 12. At this time, corings 14 are provided in turbine blades 18 radially arranged at an equal space and auxiliary turbine blades 17 are provided in the corings 14. The coring 14, forming an internal side wall of the turbine impeller 12 and a circulating flow line 16, causes a working fluid to flow smoothly, further the action of a fluid coupling is added by the auxiliary turbine blades 17, thus output torque can be increased.
