To solve problems of a conventional valve device for a powder pneumatic transportation device that the upper and lower space for the operation of a valve element has to be large because the valve element for opening and closing an outlet port of the powder oscillates upward/downward, and that the sealing function is deteriorated or the wear of the valve element or a ring packing material progresses rapidly because of the powder adhering to the top of the valve element.
The valve element 2 oscillating in the horizontal direction is mounted on the lower surface side of the outlet port 15 of the powder opened downward, and the elastically deformable ring packing material 3 having a hollow part 31 with its inside sealed is mounted on the rim of the outlet port 15. A compressed air source 5 is connected to the hollow part 31 of the ring packing material 3. When the pressure in the hollow part 31 is high, the lower surface 3a of the packing material is pressed on an upper face 22a of the valve element. When the hollow part 31 is opened to the atmosphere, the lower surface 3a of the packing material is slightly apart from the upper surface 22a of the valve element.
