Title:
CLUTCH/BRAKE UNIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3507954
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a relatively low-cost electromagnetic clutch/brake unit capable of generating a relative high braking torque by providing permanent magnets at given positions to an armature.
CONSTITUTION: In this clutch/brake unit, energization of a coil 45 attracts and separates an armature 40 from magnetic pole pieces 60, 61, engages the armature 40 with an electromagnetic clutch 25, and counteracts braking action of the magnetic pole pieces 60, 61. When the coil 45 is de-energized, permanent magnets 55, 56 attract the armature 40 away from a friction plate 37 of a rotor 35, engages the armature 40 with the magnetic pole pieces 60, 61, and applies a braking torque to a pulley 13, i.e., an output member, through the armature 40. Because the permanent magnets 55, 56 not but leaf springs 41 generate braking force, the leaf spring 41 has only strength sufficient for torque transmission between the armature 40 and the pulley 13. That is, resistance hardly occurs in the leaf spring 41 with respect to the engagement of the clutch 25.
