Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the use of a comparatively smaller continuous stirring tank reactor which is capable of achieving the same gross conversion rate as a gross conversion rate to be achieved by a continuous tank reactor of a far larger size and generally of a comparatively costlier type.
SOLUTION: This two-stage reaction installation 10 comprises a continuous stirring tank reactor 12 paired with a gas bubble column reactor 14 to promote a continuous treatment for mixing a gas reactant 45 with liquid 19, e.g. conversion by hydrogenation. The continuous stirring tank reactor 12 is equipped with impeller devices 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 to circulate the liquid 19. Thus the catalytic reaction between the liquid 19 and the gas reactant 45 transported from the gas bubble column reactor 14 is promoted.
