Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the reduction of the manufacturing cost of a reduced metal in a baking and reducing furnace through a rotary hearth or the like as the result of a method wherein the problem of blocking of an exhaust gas route due to the adhesion of dust is resolved to recover a waste heat from the high- temperature exhaust gas and obtain steam and preheating air while the increas ing effect of an amount of production is obtained by operating the furnace with an operating rate higher than that by a conventional method.
SOLUTION: The blocking of the exhaust gas route due to dust in the baking and reducing furnace employing the rotary hearth or the like is prevented by a method wherein the ratio of zinc to lead, calcium to sodium and chlorine to fluorine in the constituents of dust contained in the exhaust gas are regulated in the optimum range. Further, an exhaust gas temperature is also controlled at the optimum value. According to this method, the heat exchange of sensitive heat of the exhaust gas is effected and the reducing operation of a metal, in which air is preheated, can stably be effected.
