To reduce noise generated when an input shaft connected to a steering is connected to an output shaft connected to a steering wheel side, in a transmission ratio variable steering gear.
The transmission ratio variable steering gear comprises a transmission ratio variable mechanism for making a rotary angle of the output shaft variable to the rotary angle of the input shaft connected to the steering, and a solenoid drive control device for finally moving a connecting member to a connecting position through voltage reducing process of allowing electromagnetic force smaller than elastic force of an elastic member and providing resistance for reducing traveling speed during final movement of the connecting member to the connecting position to remain, while the connecting member is kept at a non-connecting position by applying drive voltage to a solenoid holding the connecting member at the non-connecting position against energizing force of the elastic member energizing the connecting member provided movably between the connecting position where the input shaft and the output shaft can integrally rotate and the non-connecting position where transmission ratio from the input shaft to the output shaft is variable with the transmission ratio variable mechanism by releasing a connecting state, toward the connecting position.
