Title:
EXPANDER FOR VITAL PIPELINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04105660
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To heat a stent safely with a simple construction by arranging a reaction heating substance in a balloon as heating means of the stent so that a chemical reaction is caused with a fluid fed into the balloon through a catheter.

CONSTITUTION: A vital pipeline expander 1 is made up of a balloon dilator 5 and a cylindrical stent 6. The balloon dilator 5 is made up of a catheter 2 for supplying fluids and a balloon 3 so arranged at a tip part of the catheter 2 as freely expandable. The balloon 3 comprises an elastic material and provided inside with a reaction heating substance 4 that generates heat in a chemical reaction caused with a fluid to be infected through a path 7 of the catheter to expand the balloon 3. The stent 6 mounted being fitted onto an outer circumference of the balloon 3 comprises a so-called shape memory resin having a shape memorized and is inserted into a constricted part 10 within a vital pipeline to expand the part with an expansion of the stent 6 being heated. Thus, the stent is left in the constricted part 10 thereby securing a internal cavity of the vital pipeline 9.
