PURPOSE: To decide on the shape of a frame without contacting and to prevent the frame from deforming by using a detector for the movement of the frame in an optical-axis direction, moving the whole frame in the optical-axis direction, and bringing the frame and detector under constant control.
CONSTITUTION: The spectacle frame 3 is irradiated with parallel light, which is cut off by the frame part; and an image with reduction magnification n=L2/L1 is formed on a linear photoelectric detector 7 through a detection lens 6. The detector 7 on a rotary disk 8 receives images of the entire circumference of the frame 3 successively to generate photoelectric outputs corresponding to shapes of the frame corresponding to the angle of the disk 8. The distance R() from the optical axis 0 to the internal circumference of the shade 3' of the frame at the angle is measured successively to correct the reduction by the lens 6, and a lens pattern is cut on the basis of the measurement result, obtaining a noncontacting type shaping device. In another way, the value of the distance R to the angle is stored in a storage element to store information on the lens pattern electronically. The rotary disk 9 is only made opposite for a left and a right lens.
