Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable to polish the surface of a lens precisely, by polishing the lens with abrasive obtained by mixing a viscous thing inculding polymer, such as block polymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene with powder for polishing.

CONSTITUTION: A PES piece or PS piece machined in a lensform state by a precision spherical surfacing lathe is polished by fixing it on a polishing machine. As abrasive for the polishing machine, powder for polishing, such as α alumina and zirconium oxide are used by mixing them with a viscous thing including at least one kind polyer selected a group consisting of block polymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene, polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol at a ratio of 1:1W200 times. Precise polishing becomes possible in this manner and a disinfectable lens at a high temperature to be used in the eye, such as a hard contact lens can be obtained.
