PURPOSE: To adsorb and settle suspended matter from waste emulsion liquid and to clean up the liquid by using a flucculating agent formed with layers of activated Al oxides and nitrides on the surface of particles heavier than water.
CONSTITUTION: Layers of oxides and/or nitrides of Al are formed on particle surfaces by a method of melt spraying or atomizing metal on particles of an inorg. material such as Al or an org. material having ≥1 specific gravity, whereby a flocculating agent is prepd. If such flucculating agent is used for the waste water A discharged from a compressor, the water A is stored in a collecting and concentrating tank 1 where a highly viscous oil component B consisting essentially of a lubricant is sepd. and discharged. The waste water made into an emulsion C by the treatment is fed into a reaction chamber 2. The flocculating agent is added to the emulsion from a tank 7, and if the emulsion C is left standing after stirring, the oil components in the emulsion C is left standing after stirring, the oil components in the emulsion are adsorbed on the flocculating agent, then the components flocculate and settle. The contents in the reaction chamber are conducted to a filtration tank 6, and are subjected to a solid- liquid sepn., whereby treated water K is obtd.
