Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a sufficient contact gap between a stationary and a movable contact by compensating the dimensional tolerance when normally closed contacts are opened through manual operation of an open button.
SOLUTION: A thermal over-load relay is equipped with an inverting operation mechanism 2 to follow the displacement of a main bimetal, normally closed contacts 3 to be opened with the inverting operation of the mechanism 2, and an open button 8 to open the normally closed contacts 3 through manual operation, wherein the movable contact 3a of the normally closed contacts 3 is attached to a swinging movable plate 2b in the inverting operation mechanism 2 while the stationary contact 3b is attached to a contact supporting piece 9 of a leaf spring, and the piece 9 is retreated by depressing the open button 8 so as to open the normally closed contacts 3. The button 8 is furnished with a taper cam 8b as an opening motion assisting means to separate the stationary contact 3b and movable contact 3a simultaneously when the contacts 3 are to be opened from the button operation, and at depression of the button 8, the taper cam 8b is pressed to the angle 2d-1 of an L-shaped lever 2d so that the movable plate 2b of the inverting mechanism 2 is retreated in the direction of contacts being opened.
