PURPOSE: To provide a tagging device of a rope by which a locking device is forcibly used without fail and which can be transferred rapidly without much labor even if a brake is actuated due to a power failure.

CONSTITUTION: This tagging device of a rope is provided with a locking mechanism 50 detecting the increasing speed of the rope 5 and locking it and an auxiliary locking mechanism 70 detecting the increasing speed of the auxiliary rope 8 and locking it, as a unit with the machine frame 31. The rope 5 is inserted in the locking mechanism 50 to use the tagging device 30 of rope, for increase of safety. And further, two locking mechanisms 50, 70 detect independently respective increasing rope speeds and an interlocking mechanism that both locking mechanisms 50, 70 are locked due to either increased speed of the two, is provided. The brake mechanism 43 is arranged outside and hence the brake can be easily released to lower the device with its own weight even when the brake is actuated in a power failure.
