To provide a size-reducible spindle motor capable of stably supporting a rotor, and a disk unit provided therewith.
The spindle motor has a fixed shaft 50, a rotary sleeve 52, and an outer ring member 54. The rotary sleeve has an inner circumferential face 52a facing an outer circumferential face of the fixed shaft with a first minute gap 57 in between, an outer circumferential face 52b, and a bottom face 52c. The outer ring member has an opposing face 55 facing the bottom face of the rotary sleeve with a second minute gap 58 in between, and an inner circumferential face facing the outer circumferential face of the rotary sleeve with a third minute gap 60 in between, and it is fixedly provided. A dynamic pressure generating fluid 62 is filled in the first, second, and third minute gaps. Only one first radial dynamic pressure generating part is provided in the first minute gap, only one second radial dynamic pressure generating part is provided in the third minute gap, and a thrust dynamic pressure generating part is provided in the second minute gap.
