To provide a sealing device for a shock absorber reducing manufacturing costs and providing similar improved performance.

This shock absorber has a pressure pipe 30, a storage pipe, a piston rod 34 and a rod guide 50. The rod guide 50 is positioned between the pressure pipe 30, the storage pipe and the piston rod 34. A sealing device 52 is positioned between the rod guide 50 and the piston rod 34. The sealing device has a positioning ring 60, a damper seal 52 and a dirt wiper 64. The positioning ring positions the sealing device with respect to the rod guide 50. The damper seal engages with the positioning ring 60, and two annular seal lips 70, 72 thereof engage with the piston rod 34. The dirt wiper engages with the damper seal and includes a lip which engages with the piston rod.
