Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal material capable of improving self-seal effect and ensuring the prevention of the infiltration of a liquid outside of a coupling into the coupling by external pressure.SOLUTION: A seal material 6 used in a coupling 1 including a socket 5 into which an insertion port 7 is inserted, comprises: a heel portion 21 fitted into a fit portion 10 of the socket 5; and a valve portion 22 compressed by being held between the socket 5 and the insertion port 7, an inner circumferential portion of the valve portion 22 is pressed against an outer circumferential surface of the insertion port 7, an outer circumferential portion of the valve portion 22 is pressed against an inner circumferential surface of the socket 5, and an external-pressure-introduction concave portion 33 is formed in the valve portion 22 for introducing an external pressure of the coupling 1 and generating a first inward pressure force for pressing the inner circumferential portion of the valve portion 22 radially inward and a first outward pressure force for pressing the outer circumferential portion of the valve portion 22 radially outward.
