To provide size reduction by fitting a hydraulic control valve to the casing of an actuator in the roughly radial direction and forming a valve mecha nism and a hydraulic passage inside the casing.
A hydraulic control valve 23 fitted on a casing 17 in roughly radial direction comes into action to move a spool 24. When a supply port 29 communicates with an oil suction and delivery port 25, an oil suction and delivery port 26 communicates with a drain port 28. Oil pressure fed to a feed port 29 is fed to the first pressure chamber 21 from the oil suction and delivery port 25 through an pressure oil feed passage. The oil in the second pressure chamber 22 is delivered to an oil tank from a drain port 28 through the pressure oil feed passage and an exhaust port 26. As a result, a gate valve and an output shaft rotate clockwise to drive the cam shaft of an internal combustion engine. When the spool 24 moves to the left further and communicates with a feed port 29 and the oil suction and delivery port 26, the oil suction and delivery port 25 communicates with a drain port 27 to drive the gate valve and the output shaft counterclockwise.
