Title:
ROTATING THERMAL OXIDATION APPARATUS FOR RECYCLING USAGE PROCESSING OF BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3604634
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for safely and efficiently removing nonmetallic materials from battery packs and batteries by restraining emission of harmful elements from the battery packs to a minimum.
SOLUTION: Polymeric and other nonmetallic materials are removed from a consumed battery pack or a battery using a rotary thermal oxidation apparatus. Valuable metals, such as cadmium, nickel, and iron are left thereafter, and passed to processes thereafter. Before introducing into an oxidation apparatus, it is preheated so that scavenging temperature is above the spontaneous ignition temperatures of the polymers, and an amount of oxygen contained in the oxidation apparatus is adjusted, thereby the risk of an explosion and a fire is reduced greatly accompanying a dry refining recycling use of the battery.
